Jon was right

Posted by Jon in General on November 28th, 2007

Since he isn’t in the states or able to access this I can say it.  Don’t expect it to happen again though.  Since dancing with the stars began this year I have been an avid watcher of the show.  Slowly bit by bit every week Jon would start to watch a little more of the show with me.  I doubt that he will admit it but he likes the show.  Infact I have him go online to vote for the spice girl, Mal B for me and he threw in a few votes for his favorite Helio the race care driver.  From that week on it was an on going discussion.  I thought for sure that Mel would win, and he thought Helio would win.  Well tonight Helio took home the prize and Mel B came in 2nd, not bad at all.  For me though, it proved that jon was right and I was wrong.  There I said it!

It’s been a week

Posted by Jon in General on November 25th, 2007

Yup a whole week flew already.  Not to say that I don’t miss Jon, because don’t get me wrong, I do.  What I am saying is that I am adjusting quite well.  I think having a kitten really helps(sounds kind of cheesey I know).  Literally since Jon has left she has not left my side, she even sits outside the shower, and if I close the door she waits leaning up against the door so that when I open it she falls in the bathroom!  I love her!

I have heard from jon a few times via email as well as a few unexpected delightful phone calls.  He is doing well and is making friends fast.   So as it seems we are both adjusting quite well.  Another huge help in my adjustment and I guess his as well would be work.  Thanksgiving was so busy at the restaraunt that it practically flew by, as did black friday.  I ofcourse went shopping in the AM and slept for the rest of the day until I had to work.  Again we were very busy so that day flew by as well.  I have the next few days off so we will see what kind of loneliness will ensue.  Perhaps decorating for the holidays will help?  We shall see.

Life goes on

Posted by Jon in General on November 21st, 2007

Well it as been a few days since Jon left and I am still adjusting.  Today I went back to work ( I had the last 2 days off).  Going back to work was a real good thing, it got me out of the house a bit.  I found a few friends at work today and learned that they too have Husbands or boyfriends in the Navy.  So just having some people who know what I am going through is going to be a huge help I think.

After Jon had left I did get to talk with him a few more times.  His ship was held up and he was able to call me 2 days after he left, so I guess it doesn’t seem like he has been gone that long yet.

I am working on Thanksgiving, as well as Black Friday.  I am planning on going out for my first black Friday adventure to do a little shopping.  Stress LITTLE.  I don’t want to get caught up in the hair pulling, people pushing fights that are so notorious on that morning. Again working through the holiday is going to be huge help, and hopefully will take my mind off things.

I’ll keep you posted!

First days

Posted by Jon in General on November 18th, 2007

These last few days have been a little rough.  After dropping Jon off in the airport it really hadn’t hit me that he had gone.  To be honest I was so tired from staying up and helping him pack the night before.  I went home and slept for a few hours.  After I woke up it totally hit me that he wouldn’t be coming home.  Which ofcourse upset me.  All that night I was pretty upset, especially after I got to speak with him briefly. Yesterday was my first day without him fully, and it was ok.  I had just a few moments where I really thought about it, but I did also work a 9 hours shift too.  I guess it is going to be a “take it one day at a time” thing, and before I know it he will be home again.

Well it is safe to say he has gone. . . .

Jon did in fact ship out.  His family and I escorted him to the security check point, and we were even offered a chance to go through to the terminal to see him off.  I think it was a better idea that we didn’t as he needed a little time to collect his thoughts.  When I was driving home it was so incredibly sunny and even kinda warm(for us 60 is warm).  With the break in the nasty weather we have been having, it just really felt like God was with us  in our hard time.  Jon has told me that he will be able to email me almost daily, which means that I will be able to update you with how he is doing underway.

All your prayers for us are much appreciated

Airlines…

Posted by Jon in General on November 16th, 2007

Hi everyone. Just wanted to say a quick goodbye and thank you all for your prayers. My flight was supposed to be leaving at 10:10 am this morning… But due to fog at my the airport in San Francisco where I transfer I won’t be taking off until just before noon.

Fortunately, many of the passengers made arrangements to get rerouted to other flights, so my flight won’t be very crowded. And after a brief chat with the ticket agent I was able to get a free upgrade to First class. I’ll try to post again when I get to San Francisco.

Thanks for your prayers,
Jon
